That's why we've invested in bringing the most advanced IPL skin laser to Pittsburgh, ensuring next-generation results for this generation of adults and teens.

But if it's your first time exploring IPL, we know you might have a few questions.

Below are the answers to some of our most commonly asked FAQs, but if you have any further queries, we look forward to having to come by for a no-commitment consultation.

What is IPL anyway?

IPL is short for Intense Pulsed Light therapy, which works by directing powerful yellow, green and red light over the affected skin.

The yellow and green lights work to destroy the bacteria that live on and in the skin. The red light works on the skin's sebaceous glands, minimizing the amount of sebum they produce (which can drastically reduce the oil that collects to cause pimples).

What happens in an IPL for acne marks treatment?

One of our trained experts will assess your unique skin situation. You'll then be led to our IPL treatment room.

You'll be asked to wear specific safety glasses to protect your eyes. Our specialist will then apply a cool gel to your entire face. This gel works to keep your skin cool and reflect light during the procedure.

When it's time to commence treatment, the IPL technician will slowly use the light applicator across affected areas.

You won't feel any pain or discomfort, other than an unusual 'pulse' of light as the technician works.

Will I be able to go outside afterwards?

After each IPL acne treatment, your skin may feel slightly red or 'hot' but not overly uncomfortable.

You'll be able to resume normal activities such as going to work or school, and your technician will recommend products to help minimize any post-treatment discomfort.

They will emphasize the importance of wearing a very high SPF sunscreen for at least two weeks after each treatment as your skin may feel extra sensitive and need time to heal from the treatment.

How long until I start seeing results?

While everybody's skin is unique, most IPL clients start seeing dramatic results after six sessions.

These benefits include regeneration of skin cells resulting in even texture and smoothness.
